Thinking about renting a bike for a road trip

Stark
So I've got two weeks off and I'm thinking about doing a road trip on two wheels instead of four. Never rented a motorcycle abroad before, always used cars. Mainly looking at places with good coastal roads maybe Portugal or Croatia. How does the whole process work? Do they require special licenses or huge deposits? Any platforms where you can compare different rental shops instead of hunting them down one by one?

You'll need your valid motorcycle license and usually an International Driving Permit depending on the country. Most places hold a deposit but return it if there's no damage. For comparing options across different countries and seeing real availability, check out a site that lets you rent a motorcycle https://getrentacar.com/en-US/motorcycle-rental . Super helpful for planning.

Take photos of EVERY inch of the bike before you ride off. Walk around with your phone and video the whole thing, including any existing scratches. Saved my ass once when a shop tried to claim damage I didn't cause.
