First time renting a scooter overseas?

Stark
Finally taking that trip I've been putting off for years and planning to rent a scooter to actually explore the island instead of being stuck near the hotel. Problem is I've never done this outside the US and I'm lowkey stressed about getting ripped off or ending up with a beat up bike. Where do you guys usually start when looking for reliable rentals? Any red flags I should watch for?

The key is sticking to established booking platforms rather than random street shops that might hand you a junker and hold your passport hostage. For comparing prices, reading recent reviews, and locking in a legit motorbike rental before you even land, you can browse vetted options all in one place through something like this https://getrentacar.com/en-US/motorcycle-rental . Takes the guessing game out of it.

Stick to automatic scooters unless you've ridden manual bikes before. Traffic abroad is chaotic enough without having to think about shifting gears every five seconds. Your vacation brain will thank you.
