Problem in creating quickstart project using archetype (Scala)

nsengupta
Hello all,

I don't know if anyone else has faced his; I haven't so far.

When I try to create a new project template following the instructions here, it fails.

This is what happens (along with the command I give):

nirmalya@Cheetah:~/Workspace-Flink$ mvn archetype:generate                               \
>       -DarchetypeGroupId=org.apache.flink              \
>       -DarchetypeArtifactId=flink-quickstart-scala     \
>       -DarchetypeVersion=1.1-SNAPSHOT

Re: Problem in creating quickstart project using archetype (Scala)

Aljoscha Krettek
Hi,
I'm sorry for the inconvenience, for the -SNAPSHOT release versions one must also append the address of the repository to the command, like this:

$ mvn archetype:generate \
   -DarchetypeGroupId=org.apache.flink \
   -DarchetypeArtifactId=flink-quickstart-scala \
   -DarchetypeVersion=1.1-SNAPSHOT \

or you could use the stable version:

mvn archetype:generate \
  -DarchetypeGroupId=org.apache.flink \
  -DarchetypeArtifactId=flink-quickstart-java \
  -DarchetypeVersion=1.0.2

Cheers,
Aljoscha

Fantastic! Many thanks for clarifying, Aljoscha!

I blindly followed what that page said. Instead, I should have tried with the stable version.

Hey Nirmalya,

this is not your fault, but a shortcoming of the docs. ;) I've created
an issue for it here: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/FLINK-3884
